Ac 13:5-12 5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister. 6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus: 7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. 9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, 10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.
There are many false prophets perpetrating in the church today. Just like bar-jesus, they have the right name, and the right friends, but the wrong motives. Their motive is to turn people away from the faith and not to the faith. Their motive is to win folk to themselves rather than to Christ. But God always have a watchman on the wall. He always have somebody watching for your soul. He always have someone who is full of the Holy Ghost interceding for you. Jesus said: John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Here we see Saul (who is now referred to as Paul), full of the Holy Ghost, seeing right through this false prophet. Not only does he see what is going on, he deals with it immediately. It's interesting because he used the same thing against him that God used on him. He put blindness on him. This tells me that we are to use what we got and God will give us more. Moses used his rod. Samson used the jawbone of an ass. David used his sling shot and five smooth stones. You just need to use what you got and speak those things. Call those things which be not as though they were. When you pray, don't doubt in your heart, but believe and you shall have whatever you say. You gotta say something! When Paul spoke against that false, lying prophet spirit, God backed him up. God will always back you up when you stand in faith and speak against the works of the devil. He had Moses' back at the Red Sea. He had Samson's back against the Philistines. He had David's back against Goliath. He had Paul's back against this false prophet, and he will have your back against the devil. Note that because of this holy boldness, the deputy believed God and was saved.
